Mark Mann has served on the East Greenbush Central School District Board of Education for the past eleven years, and has been the Vice President of the board for the past eight years. He sits on the District’s Safety Committee, Code of Conduct and Policy Committees.  Mark was a Police Officer for the Town of East Greenbush for over twenty years, during which time he served as the DARE officer for the five elementary schools from 1994-2005 and then as a school resource officer at Goff Middle School and Columbia High School from 2005 to 2008, where he was given an office to work with the administrators, teachers and students. His time at Goff was only interrupted by his service to our nation, as a Chief Master Sergeant for the Air National Guard’s 109th Airlift Wing, where he was deployed for three tours in Afghanistan and one in Quatar leading him to earn the Meritorious Service Medal.  While abroad, Mark saw the needs for school supplies for the youth, as well as comfort supplies for the troops, and worked with school staff and students back home to distribute care packages. Mark has spent 28 years in law enforcement; six years with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Dept and 22 years with the East Greenbush Police Dept. He retired from policed work in 2015 and now works full time with the military.

Mark also serves on the board of directors for SORENSCO, and coached Babe Ruth Baseball for many years. Mark is a coach, a police officer, a Chief Master Sergeant, and a community leader.  The East Greenbush Education Foundation is proud to honor Mark Mann with this award for his countless hours of service to his community and country.
