It is an honor to celebrate Lisa Smith as we induct her into the Columbia High School Hall of Fame. A member of the Class of 1987, Lisa has excelled in her finance career and in her volunteerism to the community.

Upon graduating from high school, Lisa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Siena College in 1991. She became a Certified Public Accountant in 1994, and went on to earn an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2004.

Throughout her career, she held positions with KMPG, General Electric, NYS Higher Education Service, Trans World, CAP COM Federal Credit Union and BST. Lisa is currently the Chief Audit Executive for Broadview Federal Credit Union. In addition, Lisa has worked as an adjunct professor in area colleges, including Siena College, Bryant and Stratton College and Excelsior University.

In addition to a stellar professional career, Lisa has excelled in volunteer service to the community. She has served on the boards of directors for The Art Center of the Capital Region, the NYS Society of CPAs, the Capital District YMCA, the Capital District Women’s Bar Association and the East Greenbush Girls Softball League.

Lisa’s most recent call to volunteer has been with “Stand UP To Parkinson’s”, a 501(c) non

profit organization founded by retired teacher, coach and administrator, Tim Lange. This

organization has donated over $200,000 to the Albany Medical College Parkinson’s Lab and

Help for Parkinson’s. In the words of Tim Lange, “In my need for a treasurer who knew the

intricacies of managing funds for our organization, it was a no brainer when I asked Lisa to join

us. She exemplifies what it means to be compassionate while simultaneously handling

operations as if she were a CFO of a prominent company.”

Nominated by teacher Jim Obermayer, he reflected that “Lisa is a role model for all, especially

students from Columbia High School. Her passion, dedication and commitment to others

makes her an outstanding candidate for the Education Foundation Alumni Hall of Fame. Please

join us in congratulating Lisa Smith.
